Success Stories

Many thanks to the Vancouver Foundation's Neighbourhood Small Grants Program for supporting us in the purchase of beautiful planters, dirt and plants to help 'green' the co-op!

A hugely successful ball give-away event at Strathcona. 45 kids were able to attend the Hoops for Hope Basketball camp and take a basketball home with them at the end of the 5 day camp! The kids were delighted!

Already 5 housebound seniors have had their bedding completely replaced by a Safety and Security Grant with more to come. New 320-thread count sheets, comforters, pillows and pillow shams were provided. The seniors were extremely happy and excited by their bed 'make-overs'!

Many people came out to Maclean Park to enjoy a beautiful evening of images, videos, and a short film all made by local neighbourhood artists!

Kids ages 13 -17 enjoyed the Beyond Hoops Event @ the Ray Cam Community Centre!

A giant bingo party was hosted by seniors for over 160 local
resident seniors. The event was a resounding success with many
thanks to the Vancouver Foundation's Neighbourhood Small Grants
Program!

Once again the Strathcona Elementary School Spring Fair was a great success. Along with the regular events of games, face painting and a cakewalk, a professional balloon twister was at this year's fair for over 2 hours making wonderful balloon creations for all. The Strathcona Elementary School would like to thank the Vancouver Foundation's Neighbourhood Small Grants Program for helping to make this event so wonderful!

The 2010 NSGP recipients celebrated their successful projects together by sharing a meal, stories and photos of their events.

The Strathcona community Halloween Dance was a great success again this year. Ghosts, goblins, witches and ghouls danced and played at this spooky event!

The 3rd Annual Harvest Festival was held in Maclean Park again this year. The day was beautiful, the games exuberant, the food delicious -- especially the pie, and the band rocked! A great time was had by all.
